Meet the Community Advocates of the Robins Foundation
"Sport is a universal language, no matter if you want to play that sport or work in that sport in an admin role"
Recently, the Abler team was lucky enough to get a glimpse into the important work that the Bristol City Robins Foundation is doing in their community. Having recently joined forces, a team flew across the pond to ensure a succesful implementation and getting to understand first hand the challenges and everyday work the foundation carries through.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the Robins Foundation is more than just a football club - it’s a pillar of support for the Bristol community. They’re out there every day, making sure that kids, teens, and families have a safe and welcoming space to play, learn, and grow. It’s not just about the games; it’s about the connections they build and the opportunities they create for people to come together, share their stories, and feel like they’re a part of something bigger.
What really stood out to us were the people behind the scenes—the true community heroes. They’re the coaches, mentors, and staff who pour their hearts into every program, tackling challenges with a smile and a “we’ve got this” attitude. We had the chance to sit down with a few of them, and we can’t wait for you to hear their stories.
We asked some of the coaches and staff at the foundations the following questions:
-
What age group do you work with?
-
What is your favourite thing about your job?
-
Why do you think it's important for young people to participate in sports?
-
What do you wish you could do more of in your role?
-
What do you wish you had to do less of?
-
Can you tell us about a stand out moment in your career?
